Morrissey is sounding off against the harassment of witnesses in the ongoing, high-profile murder case involving a woman accused of killing her boyfriend, a Boston police officer, last year. In a video statement posted online, Morrisey said of the witnesses, “To have them accused of murder is outrageous. To have them harassed and intimidated based on false narratives and accusations is wrong. They are witnesses doing what our justice systems asks of them.”“We try people in the court and not on the internet for a reason,” he continued. “The internet has no rules of evidence. The internet has no punishment for perjury and the internet does not know all the facts.” Prosecutors have said Karen Read ran over her boyfriend, John O’Keefe, with her SUV in January, 2022 after a night of drinking.
