SALT LAKE CITY (KTVX) -- Nearly one-third of downtown Salt Lake City is dedicated solely to car parking, according to data released by a nonprofit last week. And Salt Lake is far from alone. In Wichita, it's 35%. In Las Vegas, it's 32%. In San Bernardino, it's even worse: 49% of the central city is composed of parking. The data comes from the Parking Reform Network, an organization that works to inform people about the impact of parking on climate change, housing, traffic and more. The group has published 86 maps of cities across the United States, highlighting the space dedicated to parking lots in city centers. Edward LottermanA French president once asserted, to much acclaim, that the U.S. dollar’s status as a “reserve currency” conferred an exorbitant privilege on our nation. As I write this, members of the six-nation BRICS bloc are meeting in South Africa. There is a particularly silly one by Bethann Moorcraft, on the Moneywise site, asserting that India paying rupees for 100 million barrels of oil from the United Arab Em...
